The NBA Basketball School Summer Camp, held in La Nucía over two separate weeks, has concluded on a very positive note, with nearly 200 boys and girls taking part across both sessions. The first session ran from 28 June to 3 July, while the second took place from 5 to 10 July, both at the Camilo Cano Sports Complex.
Over the two weeks, participants born between 2008 and 2016 worked on different technical, tactical and physical aspects of basketball through a structured programme adapted to their age and level. Each day combined training sessions, skills stations, game situations and internal competitions, following the development principles of NBA Basketball School.
The activity offered both day and residential options. Day participants followed a full-day schedule, while those who chose the residential option stayed at Colegio La Muixara, with full board and evening activities included.
Individual Technique, Understanding the Game and Competition
The daily work focused on the all-round development of the participants. From a technical perspective, the programme covered fundamentals such as ball-handling, shooting technique, finishing around the basket, passing, off-ball movement and individual defence.
The schedule also placed emphasis on understanding the game, with content related to spacing, decision-making, transition play, identifying offensive advantages and 1-on-1, 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 situations. These areas were complemented by physical preparation sessions focused on coordination, agility, speed, body control and injury prevention.
Each day included an initial technical training block in the morning, followed by internal competition games in the afternoon as part of the Summer League. Residential players were also able to take part in themed player development sessions in the evening. The programme was completed with rest periods, swimming pool time and activities adapted to the different groups.
Structured Training at Ciudad Deportiva Camilo Cano
The Summer Camps were held at Ciudad Deportiva Camilo Cano, a complex covering more than 450,000 square metres and featuring over 60 sports facilities. Training sessions were organised in small groups according to age and level, with continuous supervision from the coaching staff.
The camp was led by Haris Kapidzic and José Antonio Sánchez, who were responsible for coordinating a programme that combined technical work, physical preparation, competition and values associated with basketball.
With nearly 200 participants across the two sessions, the Summer Camps marked a successful debut for NBA Basketball School’s summer programme in La Nucía, giving boys and girls the opportunity to complete an intensive week of development and apply the content covered in each session to real game situations.
